Discover amazing China with BotSoc

The talk includes conservation issues, plants, birds and many other fascinating aspects from food to religion and politics.

THE Botanical Society KZN Coastal Branch presents an ‘Amazing China’ photographic tour on Sunday, 3 July at 3pm at the Durban Botanic Gardens Visitors Centre, John Zikhali Road (formerly Sydenham).

Is China just about people and pollution, or are they environmentally conscious?

Charles and Julia Botha took over 2,500 photos of mainland China, many off the beaten track. This is your opportunity to see a selection of the most astonishing ones – some that may shock and others that will make you laugh.

The talk includes conservation issues, plants, birds and many other fascinating aspects from food to religion and politics. Some stunning gardens and landscaping are also shown. Don’t miss this presentation, which holds many surprises and dispels some popular myths and misconceptions about China and its people. Visiting China is like landing on a different planet, there is no other place like it.

Note that some photos may be offensive to sensitive viewers and children.

Entrance including refreshments costs R40 for members of BotSoc and Friends of Durban Botanic Gardens, and R60 for non-members. Students with cards pay R30. RSVP by calling 031-201-5111 or 071-869-3693 or email botsoc-kzn@mweb.co.za.

Proceeds from this event go to the Botanical Education Trust.
