Garden club adds another candle to its cake

This month the club celebrates its 31st birthday

NATALIA Garden Club holds its next meeting on Thursday, 14 April at 9.30am at the Pigeon Club hall in Tara Road.

President Karolina Kotze will read out the annual report.

This month the club celebrates its 31st birthday. Zela Catlett, a member since 1985, will cut the birthday cake to be made by Beryl Smale. Members have been asked to supply plants for the plant sale.

Keen gardener Nora Brown will give tips on ‘know your plant’. Plant competition categories for this month are: Decorative (a fruit or vegetable basket), cultural (pentas in a vase), best bloom or spray, best pot plant, from my garden.

Club members will view and admire these beautiful displays while they socialise and enjoy the tasty snacks during tea break. Members on tea duty for April are Pat Watkins, Gwen Westbrook, Ellen Wheal, Raymond Wilkinson, Miemie Williams, Yusimi Zayas and Monica Auguste. The club has organised an outing to Mitchell Park for Tuesday, 19 April.

Congratulations to the overall winners for the year ending February 2016, namely Karolina Kotze, Nora Brown and Lettie van Jaarsveld respectively, as well as the other winners in the various categories.

The club congratulates all members who take part in the competitions. Thanks are extended to judges Mona Edds and Margaret Everett who judge the competitions. There will be no speaker due to time constraints. New members and visitors are most welcome.
