Visit multi-cultural book ship

The Logos Hope will berth in the Durban Harbour for two and a half weeks from 17 March to 3 April.

THE Logos Hope made port in Durban on Wednesday, 16 March, bringing with it much multi-cultural fanfare and support for local communities.

Sikhumbuzo Nene, representing the mayor’s office said the arrival was auspicious, as it coincided with International Library Week and the Time of the Writer Festival.

More than 60 nationalities are represented by the crew on board, including a handful of South Africans, excited to be on their home soil.

This is the furthest south the ship has travelled so far, and the crew will venture out to communities in Durban, providing help while selling books onboard through the world’s largest floating book fair.

The International Café will be the backdrop for locals to meet with and learn from the many international volunteers, with the beautiful backdrop of Durban Harbour.
