Worldwide support for Montclair teen

My story can have a happy-ending because of the faith others have in my abilities.

AN astounding response from international communities has left debate and public speaking teenager, Matt Glasspool, speechless.

A plea made by his family last month to help the 16-year-old travel to America to attend in the World Individual Debating and Public Speaking championships.

When they approached the Sun to place an article, they did not expect Matt’s story to reach global heights. “I prepared myself to tell Matt that he couldn’t go because we couldn’t raise the R60,000. After seeing the article in our local paper I didn’t expect it to gain such momentum as strangers and lost friends overseas opened their hearts and pockets to support his dream. Within a month, we raised over R60,000 and donations are still coming in,” said mother, Tracey Cairns.

Matt and his family thank those who have made a contribution to his dreams and future. “I am happy, excited and so nervous but I will not disappoint those who believe in me and have invested in this trip. It goes to show, among all the bad in this world there is goodness and my story can have a happy-ending because of the faith others have in my abilities,” added Glasspool.
