Entertainer charms Montclair seniors

Members were reminded that subs are due and those wishing to join in for the lunch outing in May can make payment in March and April.

MONTCLAIR Senior Citizens Club met for its first meeting of the year on a predictably hot and humid day.

Roger from the Methodist Church opened the meeting with devotions.

Dave then welcomed all present and a special welcome was given to the two new members who joined. Those with birthdays in January and February were wished for their special day. Another request was made to members for someone to step into the secretary’s role as long-time secretary, Cosy has called it a day. The club thanks her for her long, dedicated service. Members were reminded that subs are due and those wishing to join in for the lunch outing in May can make payment in March and April.

Numbers were drawn for several raffle prizes. As usual Colin had a joke to share with everyone before tea and refreshments were served.

After tea, much fun was had as the entertainer, Raymond Ludic played his guitar and sang old favourites from around the world, getting everyone to sing along with him. In between songs, he shared jokes from various countries, which were enjoyed.

He finished off with songs that he had written himself.

The next meeting will be on 10 March. All seniors in the area are welcome to go along and join the monthly meeting held at the Methodist Church hall at 9.30am. Membership fee is R30 annually, R5 is collected monthly towards refreshment costs, and raffle tickets are available at R1 each.
