‘Exterminators’ steal from homeowners

It is unknown if the men used any specific vehicle as they are seen visiting homes on foot.

THREE men claiming to be pest exterminators have come under fire after Merebank residents accused them of stealing from their homes while they were supposedly spraying pesticides. According to Wentworth SAPS, they have received reports from home-owners who fell victim while the exterminators were in their homes.

Residents living in areas surrounding Merebank, especially Wentworth, are warned to be aware of who they allow on their property. “The three men go to different neighbourhoods, requesting to apply pesticides in people’s homes at a very low cost. The home owner is then told to wait outside when they spray the house.

Once left alone in the house, they allegedly steal small valuable items like Ipads, jewellery, cell phones and watches,” said Wentworth SAPS communication officer, Lt Gumede.

It is unknown if the men used any specific vehicle as they are seen visiting homes on foot. Communities are urged to contact police if the men are seen near their premises. Investigators are looking for witnesses as well as the pest control team to learn more on the services they offering to the community and their intentions.
