The car guard chased after and caught a thief dressed as a security guard

A CRIMINAL was caught off guard when a car guard stopped him in his tracks.

Tony Ikol, a car guard at Bluff Towers mall was deemed a hero after he chased after and caught a thief dressed as a security guard on 12 January.

The criminal ran off with a bank card after distracting a user making a cash withdrawal at an ATM. HE interfered with the transaction and grabbed the card as it ejected.

Ikol became aware of the situation and chased after the thief. he caught him in the parking lot, arrested the man and recovered the card.

General manager of Park Patrol Services, Lorriane Jenkins heard about the arrest during a weekly crime meeting at Brighton Beach police station, which Park Patrol Security Services attends along role players. Park Patrol Security Services management offered to reward  Ikoli with R500.00 grocery voucher for his good work.

On Thursday, 4 February, a certificate of recognition signed by Brighton Beach Station Commander Col Carol Grobler was handed over to Ikoli, and a gift certificate from Park Patrol Security Services.

The management of SAPS Brighton Beach thanked Ikol for the collaring the suspect.
