TRAFFIC ALERT: Bus blockades cut off South Durban

Motorists are urged to steer clear of driving in this vicinity until the blockade has been cleared.

Bus blockades in the south of the city are cutting off the morning rush hour traffic from accessing the central part of Durban this morning (Monday, 1 February).

Morning commuters, in cars and taxis alike, are gridlocked across all lanes of the north bound carriage way of the N2 at the old airport where it splits to the M4.

Bus blockades are also reported to be taking place on Mangosuthu Highway in both directions. On the old Isipingo road that runs parallel to the N2 at the old airport, taxi commuters left their taxis to walk south in a bid to clear the gridlock.

It is unclear what the bus drivers or owners’ protest is about.

Motorists are urged to steer clear of driving in this vicinity until the blockade has been cleared.
