Tip-off leads to dagga bust

Police arrest suspected dealer.

A BLUFF man was arrested for possession of dagga on Sunday, 24 January following a tip-off.

Acting on information given to them that a man was dealing drugs from an Island View Road business, Brighton Beach SAPS crime prevention unit’s Warrant Officer JJ Sonnekus and Constable Sindisiwe Mthethwa went inside, while reservists Captain Avril Fabre and Constable Sam Mthembu secured the outside.

In a back room the officers found a man lying on his bed. He assured police the information they received about him dealing drugs was incorrect.

A search of the room, however, revealed 51 small plastic packets containing dagga, weighing 398 grams.

The 49-year-old was arrested for possession of dagga.

Brighton Beach SAPS management welcomed the arrest and congratulated the officers involved.
