TWO large dagga trees were discovered in Yellowwood Park today (22 January) after police and Montclair Community Crime Prevention (MCCP) members were alerted of it.
A concerned resident from the area contacted the MCCP to help him identify trees which were growing behind his house near a stream.
MCCP members headed off to the address where they found two large dagga trees which were about three metres high. MCCP member, Julie Meyer said they used pangas to cut the trees down. “We took the dagga trees to the Montclair SAPS and handed them over to W/O Poobalan Marimuthu.
W/O Marimuthu asks the public to report to the police if they are unsure of plants or vegetation growing around their property, especially if they suspect it to contain any illegal substance. “Thank you to MCCP for your good work in retrieving the trees,” he added.
MCCP members thanked the resident for his vigiliance around his premises and for taking quick action in reporting the problem.
