Panel beaters urged to register

Registration is required.

ALL panel beaters in the Brighton Beach policing area are urged to register as soon as possible in terms of the Secondhand Goods Act.

According to Brighton Beach SAPS secondhand goods officer, Warrant Officer Anton van der Merwe, all panel beaters must register and be in possession of a secondhand goods certificate in order to conduct their business.

“Irrespective of whether a panel beater business may or may not make use of secondhand motor vehicle parts, panels or accessories within the process of fixing or restoring any motor vehicle, the onus is upon the business owner to collect a SAPS 601: Application for registration as a second-hand goods dealer.”

The forms are available at W/O van der Merwe’s room (G.1) at the station on week days from 7am to 8.30am. The procedure and required documents will be explained to each applicant.

For information or to clarify whether a business must be registered, visit W/O van der Merwe at the station.
