A zero tolerance will be implemented against the use and selling of drugs - Cpt Houston

A PREMISES suspected of being a drug den was recently visited by the Wentworth SAPS where they conducted a stop and search on Wednesday, December 2.

Cpt Houston, Lt Gumede and another police member conducted the high visibility stop and searches on several people, to no avail. Upon entering

the premises, they noticed a suspicious-looking man exiting a building known to be a drug den. Capt Houston searched the 50-year-old man and found in his possession, two black bags that contained a dagga pipe and cloth, a newspaper filled with loose dagga and R600 in cash.

A day before, Cpt Houston was on duty when he received a tip off about a man on Major Calvert who was in possession of cocaine. He visited the particular flat where he found the suspect asleep next to his child. Cpt Houston tapped the 49-year-old who was reluctant to wake up, “I tapped him again and he woke up. I immediately searched his pockets and found a plastic packers containing five pieces of suspected rock cocaine,”said Cpt Houston.

He also found four cardboard foil wrapped pipes in a bag. All exhibits were seized and the man was charged and will appear in court.

Cpt Houston added: “Whether caught with one gram or one kg of drugs, zero tolerance will be implemented against the use and selling of drugs. This applies to alcohol as well.”
