Musical comes to Coedmore Castle grounds

Yellowwood Park to host festival.

VOICES of unity will sound through Kenneth Stainbank Nature Reserve as a musical is performed for the Day of Reconciliation, Wednesday, 16 December.

Funded by the National Lotteries Commission, The Heritage Development Trust brings The House of Shaka to Coedmore Castle in Yellowwood Park, along with other local celebrities on Wednesday, 16 December.

The House of Shaka, which was composed and will be conducted by Professor Musa Xulu includes soloists, the Clermont Community Choir and The House of Shaka ensemble.

Along with this performance, singer Sibongile Mngoma, actress Dawn Tandeka King, rapper Ntokozo Zakwe; comedian Simphiwe Shembe, Sboniso da Poet, members of the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra and many more will entertain festival-goers.

“This vibrant programme aims to reach out to our disparate communities in a spirit of true reconciliation and sharing,” said Publicity Matters’ Illa Thompson.

It will be held in the grounds of Coedmore Castle. Gates open at 9am and the festival ends at 4.30pm. The House of Shaka will be performed between 1pm and 2.30pm. Bring a picnic and enjoy the revelry.

WiFi will be available and a big screen will display the soccer at 3.30pm. Braai packs will also be sold.

Along with game viewing on offer, the Mary Stainbank Gallery will feature artwork from prisoners with a reconciliation theme.

There will be no parking on site but a free park-and-ride facility has been set up at New Forest High School and the Playhouse.
