SUV recovered minutes after being stolen

MONTCLAIR SAPS thought the occupants of the vehicles were behaving suspiciously and decided to follow.

MONTCLAIR SAPS officers following a group of people acting suspiciously recovered a car only minutes after it was stolen on Saturday, 21 November.

In Mobeni, Constables Ndlovu, Ntombela and Shangase saw a silver Fortuner and a Polo. They thought the occupants of the vehicles were behaving suspiciously and decided to follow.

When they got to Lamontville, the driver of the Polo raced away, while the Fortuner was abandoned.

A vehicle check revealed the Fortuner was reported stolen in Arena Park, Chatsworth about 10 minutes earlier. The car was taken to Montclair police station to be searched for fingerprints and the investigation continues.

“Montclair SAPS management commends the members on their vigilance and the speedy recovery of the vehicle,” said communications officer, Warrant Officer Poobalan Marimuthu.
