Pupils wow Montclair seniors with song

Members with birthdays this month were wished for their special day and Ron Parsonage was congratulated on his recent 90th birthday.

MONTCLAIR Seniors Club’s David opened the meeting by welcoming all present, both members and visitors.

He then introduced Roger from the Methodist Church to conduct the devotions.

Members were saddened to hear of the death of Lorraine McCarthy, and send condolences to her family. Everyone will miss seeing her smiling face at meetings.

Members with birthdays this month were wished for their special day and Ron Parsonage was congratulated on his recent 90th birthday. Both Colin and Isobel shared jokes with everyone. Winning numbers for the six raffles were then drawn.

David advised that the meeting on 10 December is the Christmas party, where snacks will be provided by the club but the usual R5 towards tea will be collected. The club’s AGM will be held on 21 January at 9am if any members would like to attend.

After tea, members were treated to the most delightful singing from pupils of Montclair Primary School, which included favourites such as Grandma’s Feather Bed, Mama Tembu’s wedding and Away in a Manger, as well as some pupils playing musical instruments. It is amazing how these youngsters remember all the words and choruses.
