Former Miss SA inspires local pupils

She spoke to them about what it means to be a woman, and how to reach for their dreams.

FORMER Miss SA and Wentworth resident, Tatum Keshwar spoke to local pupils about believing in their dreams and following their goals on Wednesday, 14 October.

About 200 grade 8 girls from Umbilo Secondary High School were treated to a talk by Keshwar, Miss South Africa 2008.

She spoke to them about what it means to be a woman, and how to reach for their dreams.

“In 2005 she entered Miss SA but did not come close to winning. She was devastated, she felt like a failure. But she dusted herself off and refocused. She decided to go to London where she worked so hard to get in a modelling agency. Finally she was accepted in to one of London’s finest modelling agencies,” said co-coordinator for the high school talk, Arlene Muller.“She then returned to South Africa and decided to give Miss SA another go in 2008. After lots of preparation and prayer, because she considers herself a very spiritual person, she won. She had pushed herself and stayed focused. Her dream had come true and her life has never been the same since.”

Keshwar delivered her speech on her success and inspired the young women to do the same with their lives. She also spoke about etiquette and told them to believe in themselves.
