Second arrest in hostel residents’ murders

The alleged killers of two men in Montclair have both been arrested.

THE second man believed to be involved in the murder of two Glebelands Hostel men in Montclair in September has been arrested.

Glebelands Hostel residents, William Mthembu and Thokozani Machi were shot and killed by two men at a Montclair shopping centre on 12 September.

On 21 September, a 22-year-old man was arrested and when he appeared in appeared in court on Tuesday, 20 October, his suspected accomplice was arrested in the gallery of the courtroom.

KZN MEC for transport, community safety and liaison, Willies Mchunu welcomed the arrest.

“I take my hat off to the police officers and anyone who was involved in this major breakthrough. I urge the police to continue with the investigation so that the suspects can be brought to book.

We also urge police to continue their probe and ascertain if the suspect is not linked to any other cases at Glebelands Hostel.

As government, we are disgusted by these senseless attacks at hostels. Once again, we are calling on whoever might have information on this matter and other cases at Glebelands Hostel to share it with the police so that the perpetrators can be brought to book,” said Mchunu.
