Ex-Bluff local clenches Mrs SA title

Mrs SA title goes to former Bluff resident, now living in Johannesburg.

THE 2016 Mrs SA title came to rest on the head of former Bluffite, Candice Abrahams at a dazzling finale in Johannesburg earlier this month.

Making it to the 2016 Schwarzkopf Professional Mrs South Africa finale was a dream come true for Abrahams, who plans to use her title to help other women.

“This year, not only have I broken free from my comfort zone, but I achieved a lifelong goal. I have an amazing platform and I will make a difference. Thank you to each and everyone who have voted and supported me on my journey as a finalist,” she said.

According to the pageant organisers, the women involved are ambitious and successful in their various careers. They are mothers and wives of all different ages and sizes who are doing great work within their respective communities.

The judging panel was made up of former Miss South Africa, Cindy Nell as the principal judge, with reigning Mrs Globe, Riana Mooi, Mrs South Africa 2014’s second princess, Kholofelo Chademanah, former Mr South Africa, Dieter Voigt, former Miss South Africa, Melinda Bam and Peermont Hotel corporate affairs and corporate social investment executive, Vusi Zwane.

The judges unanimously agreed that of the 25 finalists, Abrahams best represented her vision and should be awarded the title. Aldytha da Silva is first princess and Marlene Naiker, second princess. Riandi Conradie is Mrs Charity for raising the most funds for CANSA and Pamela Marlowe is Mrs Personality.

“The Mrs South Africa pageant has truly been an empowerment journey for me. I feel that as women we are often afraid of breaking free from the chains that we’ve allowed others to place on us.

I want to encourage other women to know ‘you are the best version of yourself’. Comparing yourself to others is not only a waste of time and energy but is self-bullying. We need to rise up and take the leap, set out goals and conquer them and ensure we mentor and motivate our future generations.”

The top 25 raised over R1-million for CANSA during their campaigns for the title.

“To the finalists, thank you for your enthusiasm, your loyalty and your hard work. You truly are all superwomen. I encourage you to continue the incredible work you do within your communities. You will always be part of the Mrs South Africa family.

“Congratulations Candice, we look forward to working with you during your year of reign and have no doubt that you will do phenomenal job of representing South Africa on the international stage,” said CEO, Joani Johnson.
