POLICE operations in KZN led to the arrest of 60 people on Thursday, 15 October, including a raid on the infamous Glebelands hostel.

Several SAPS units along with Metro Police, immigration officials, and security companies joined together for Operation Fiela. During this time they raided the Glebelands Hostel, which has become a hotbed of crime.

They targeted hotspots, searched buildings and set up roadblocks, searching for unlicensed firearms and drugs.

Sixty people were arrested for robbery, possession of drugs, unlawful railway crossing, housebreaking, kidnaping, shoplifting, Business License Act contraventions, attempted murder, being an illegal immigrant and other crimes. Drugs, alcohol and fake cigarettes were also found.
