THE Bluff’s young master marksman, Daniel Visser claimed several titles and medals at the 37th annual SANSSU SA championships held in Hartebeespoort recently.

Some 762 athletes from 33 schools across the entire country participated in this grueling competition, while 66 range masters and 295 guests looked on.

Scorching temperatures of between 43 and 45 degrees Celsius took its toll on many athletes. Not so for Glenwood Boys High School’s Daniel Visser who showcased his talents.

Daniel is currently ranked number one in the country by the South African National School Shooters Union (SANSSU) as a master marksmen after he won this title at the competition.

He was awarded gold for winning the nationals.

Besides triumphing in his age group, Daniel also won the division which earned him the status of national SANSSU SA schools winner for the Springer division at both the SANSSU Challenge as well as the SANSSU SA competition, officially making him the country’s number one ranked SANSSU Springer.

He was also named Springer U21 3P individual champion (+10m results) and top overall athlete, and Springer overall winner 2015. Included among his medals and trophies was a R500 voucher.

Both Daniel and his brother Jonathan received a silver medal in the team awards for representing the U21A Springer team and another silver for representing the U21A and U16A combined Springer team.
