Bluff hijack victim undergoes surgery

Woman recovering after attack.

AN outpouring of support has been given to the family of the 30-year-old Bluff woman who was shot in a hijacking on Friday, 4 September.

Rumours swarmed on social media following the attack, leaving her family in anguish as they faced an onslaught of incorrect details. The Sun has spoken to a reliable source and can confirm the details of her attack. They have asked that her name not be released at this stage.

On Friday night, at about 9pm the woman was dropping off a client in Kingsley Road when two men appeared at her car window. As she turned towards them she was shot once. The men pulled her and her passenger out of the car and raced away in it.

“How can they do this to an innocent person? I hope they are happy for destroying a young woman’s life as well as the lives of those around her. If they wanted the car they should have just taken it without shooting her,” said someone close to the woman.

She is still in hospital and underwent surgery this morning (Thursday, 10 September) to wire her mouth. The bullet will not be removed at this stage.

Her two children, aged three and five, are being taken care of by family members.

“We want people to be aware of what happened to ensure they are careful in the area. These people came out of nowhere and it could happen to anyone. Be careful, these criminals are brazen don’t seem to care who sees them. But we know they will be found and brought to justice,” they said.

Her loved ones thank the community for their support. “We have had so much love from the Bluff and we are grateful to everyone who sent their support. We also thank the man who was there who helped save her life.”
