Burglar adds two years to jail time

He was already serving time for another crime.

FINGERPRINTS left at a housebreaking 17 months ago in Mobeni led to the arrest of a man serving time in Wentworth prison for another crime.

On 29 April 2014 at about 5am, a business in Leicester Road was broken into and goods valued at R14,000 were stolen.

Montclair SAPS’ Warrant Officer Mzolo investigated the break-in and fingerprints were found and recorded.

Further investigations this year led to the field unit’s W/O Inggs identifying a man who had been jailed in Westville prison as the culprit for the 2014 theft.

The man appeared in Wentworth Court earlier this month where he was found guilty of housebreaking and theft and sentenced to two years in prison.

“Montclair SAPS management commends the members for their dedication,” said communications officer, W/O Poobalan Marimuthu.
