Park complaints lead to Bluff clean-up

Keep your community clean.

THE Bluff’s Community Orientated Policing (COP) will host a community clean up in the Grosvenor area on Saturday, 12 September.

With many complaints coming in about the state of parks and public areas in the community, COP co-ordinator, Rake Jeeves has organised a clean-up with the assistance of the municipality.

“Many people complain all the time about the work not being done. They say we pay rates, so why should we then have to clean up too? But blaming everyone else will not get the job done and we are the ones who can stop the deterioration of our suburbs,” he said.

The required tools and some manpower will be provided by the municipality, but Jeeves calls on the community to get involved. They will meet at Bayview Sports Club at 9am then set out along Alden Road for the clean-up. Refreshments will be provided.

“Many people say it is not our job to do this. Well, policing is not our job, but we do what we can to help and churches and other organisations would have to close their feeding schemes too if we just kept saying ‘it is not our job’,” said Jeeves.
