Jacques wins the ride
Nokwanda Makhaye was disqualified as she returned late from her 15-minute break.
Jacques Kruger has won the ‘Live Inside and Win The Ride’ competition at Galleria Mall.
He drove off with a brand-new Datson Go sponsored by Mark White Nissan Amanzimtoti that he and four other finalists lived inside for more than two weeks.
Five finalists – Stephan Coetser, Lynn Pillay, Nokwanda Makhaye, Trisha Naidoo and Jacques Kruger – took their seats inside the car at about 12.30pm on Friday, 7 August, in a bid to outlast the other to win the car.
The first to leave was Trisha, who only lasted the first weekend, followed by Stephan, who left on Saturday, 15 August after he spoke to someone outside the car – a rule which was strictly enforced.
Lynn also broke that cardinal rule on Tuesday, 17 August and gave up her chance of victory, leaving only Jacques and Nokwanda still in the car.
“It has been an exciting and interesting 16 days,” said Galleria general manager, Kurt Hoggan. “Nokwanda Makhaye was disqualified as she returned late from her 15-minute break, thus breaking one of the rules on Friday night, 21 August.
The competition was a huge success, achieving the objectives that were set out. The traction on Facebook was phenomenal and the support finalists received from shoppers and tenants was heartwarming.
