Women’s month safety campaign kicks off

Sharing information allows us to condition, support and empower others

BRIGHTON Beach SAPS officers launched its Women’s Month campaign on Friday, 14 August through the distribution of 1,500 brochures on safety.

During the three-hour campaign at the Hillside Mall, Oxford and Bluff Towers, communications officer, Captain Louise Le Roux and Reservist Carmen Jenkins spoke to women and the elderly about safety concerns.

The brochure gave safety tips to minimise the risk of falling prey to hijacking, house robbery, aggravated robbery, sexual assault and rape. Capt Le Roux called on those who received the brochure to spread the message to others.

“One individual can make a difference, but if we unite we can achieve more and become a force to be reckoned with. Sharing information allows us to condition, support and empower others,” she said.

Brighton Beach SAPS management thanks the business sector for supporting the initiative and Capt Le Roux and Reservist Jenkins for their commitment to the campaign.
