Festive fare at Bushlands WI’s 50th

Birthday greetings were read out and the Mary Stewart collect was retired.

PRESIDENT of Bushlands Women’s Institute (WI) Nora Brown welcomed the 34 women, who included ex-president Heather May, Elaine Wingard, one of its oldest members, Southern Hills executive Maureen Lavis and group treasurer, as well as past Bushlands members and representatives from the four institutes to the institute’s 50th birthday at Bluff Bowling Club on 6 August.

Birthday greetings were read out and the Mary Stewart collect was retired.

There was much laughter and nostalgia, as well as music from the 60’s and the many raffle prizes were won by members of most institutes.

Grace was said by Heather May, and all tucked into the wonderful finger lunch provided by members.

Elaine Wingard cut the beautifully gold, iced birthday cake, and everyone being well satisfied with a most enjoyable event, the gathering closed with the recitation of the women’s institute prayer.

All present expressed the wish that they would all be at Bushlands 51st birthday.
