Transnet job scam alert on social media

Never pay to apply for a job.

BEWARE of faux job opportunity scams with Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) and never pay to apply for a job.

Social media adverts set up on fake Facebook profiles are scamming prospective job searchers out of money and tainting the image of TNPA.

According to the TNPA, the modus operandi of the culprits is to set up false social media profiles in the name of senior TNPA representatives, including Durban port manager, Moshe Motlohi. Employment opportunities are then offered and responders are asked for money in order to apply for the jobs.

TNPA said it did not make these offers and warns the public not to respond to such offers and insists they will never request money from applicants for positions. Vacancies in the company are advertised via the official online career portal on its website or in national print media.

Anyone who notices these fake profiles and job offers, or with information on the people behind these fraudulent activities, should call Transnet’s toll free fraud hotline on 0800-003-056, email transnet@tip-offs.com or fax to 0800-007-788.
