Load shedding crime warning issued

Ensure all safety doors and gates are locked

CRIMINALS are preying on homes during load shedding, warns Montclair SAPS.

Montclair SAPS communications officer, W/O Poobalan Marimuthu warns Yellowwood Park and Montclair residents to be extra vigilant during the hours of darkness.

Montclair SAPS has noticed an increase in the housebreakings in these areas during load shedding.

“Criminals are aware of load shedding times and use the opportunity to commit crimes during the darkness. The public must acclimatise themselves with the load shedding schedules in their area and ensure that all activities outside the house are completed before load shedding commences.

Avoid having braais and parties in the dark as this poses an opportunity for criminals to strike and ensure all safety doors and gates are locked,” said Marimuthu.
