YWP EWI looks forward to parties

The WI birthday party will be held on 31 August, so members look forward to that.

YELLOWWOOD Park Evening Women’s Institute (YWP EWI) president Vanessa Wilesmith opened the meeting by welcoming all members and visitors by reading the Mary Stewart Collect.

Secretary Marsha Hart then gave her report of the last meeting and treasurer Wendy Henderson gave the financial report.

The tea garden and the white elephant stall at the Kombat Fair was successful, and Sheila’s pancakes were a great success. The WI hopes to improve with the tea garden at the next fair in September.

Many thanks to Sharon Quail for all her hard work. There was a letter of thanks from Val Cummings for the donation the WI was able to make to her rescue animals and a thank you from WI residential home, Evelyn House for the donation made on the members’ last visit, as well as the SPCA at Toti and for the collection of cold drink tags towards guide dogs. The institute works very hard for many charities in the area.

Thank you to the members who continually do Meals on Wheels and volunteer for Botanic Gardens duty.

YWP EWI’s next duty will be on 25 July. All members are still busy making fidget cushions and hopefully these will be handed over to the selected residential home during July. The members on tea duty next month are Linda Hewer, Robyn Murray and Joan Prenger. Sales table members are Sheila Philogene, Sharon Quail and Joan Prenger.

The WI birthday party will be held on 31 August, so members look forward to that. If anyone can assist with a raffle, it will be appreciated. Congratulations to Linda Melson, very able Judge, who received her 20 year badge.

Invitations were received from Stainbank WI and Bushlands WI for their birthday parties.

Once again the tea break was extended with all members having something to say so the intended beetle drive did not take place. The raffles were won by Wendy Henderson, Linda Melson, Marsha Hart and Sharon Quail. The meeting closed with all members saying the Women’s Institute prayer.

YWP EWI looks forward to seeing all members at its next meeting on the last Monday of the month. Do go along and join in for an enjoyable meeting.
