Eagle-eyed police recover stolen car in an hour

Police quickly track down car thief.

LESS than an hour after being stolen, a Toyota Tazz was recovered due to eagle-eyed Metro Police and Montclair SAPS officers on Tuesday, 9 June.

At about 7pm, a Chatsworth resident who had parked his locked car in his yard with the gear lock engaged, noticed it was missing.

He reported the theft to Chatsworth SAPS, who spread the information among local police. The car was noticed by Metro Police officers on the N2 near the Umlazi off-ramp.

Police stopped the car and determined it was indeed the missing Tazz. The driver was arrested and the car impounded.

“The management of Montclair SAPS commend the members for the speedy recovery and arrest,” said communications officer, W/O Poobalan Marimuthu.
