SATURDAY, 20 JUNE: South African Writers Circle meets in Durban North in celebration of Short Story Day Africa. The meeting is at The Rock Church Church hall, 1 Tamarind Close, Sunningdale, Durban North at 11am. There will be an interactive presentation and short story elements will be discussed. A workshop will follow where members and non-members will apply their writing skills on the topic of ‘water’. Non-members are welcome. Take along a plate of snacks. Members R10, non-members R20. THURSDAY, 25 JUNE: Heart and Stroke Foundation South Africa’s Mended Hearts support meeting at 2pm at Life Entabeni Hospital conference room. Guest speaker is Zaainab Abasoomar, a pharmacist at Life Healthcare. The meeting is free to attend, open to all, and is of interest to those who have suffered a cardiovascular disease or stroke event or know of a family member or a friend who has suffered such. SATURDAY, 4 JULY: Arcadia’s annual fête at the home in Peacehaven Place, opposite Marlborough Park School. Lots of lovely homemade ‘goodies’ including pancakes, vetkoek and other delicious treats. To book a table call Y Munro on 079-573-6268 and go and support the golden oldies.

 

SATURDAY, 18 JULY: Dubai International Super Cup winners 2011 and 2013/2014 SAB League champions, the Young Cavaliers FC from the Durban South Basin, host a fundraising dance at Fairvale School hall in Wentworth from 6pm. Lots of prizes, raffles, lucky draws, auction and live entertainment. Take your own drinks and snacks. A cash bar is also available. Tickets are selling fast. Call Neil on 084-392-7591 for tickets.
