Army honours soldiers for loyal service

NINE people were honoured for loyal and outstanding service in the SANDF during a medal parade at Bluff Military Base, hosted by officer commanding J Ops Tac HQ KZN Col M Mbeki on Friday, 8 May.

Much fanfare heralded the arrival of the recipients, with the army band presenting them to the gathered crowd. General officer commanding Gen JG Nkabinde applauded the nine on their dedication, patriotism and commitment and their friends and family on their sacrifices and support.

Receiving medals and certificates for 20 years’ service were Lt Col Adam Johannes Wolmarans, Maj Andre Goosen, Maj Alfred Sibonelo Bornlove Linda, W/O Lutchikanthan Pillay, Sgt Dereck Sibusiso Khumalo and Sgt Derrick Mduduzi Mchunu.

For 10 years’ service, Lt Nokuthula Mary-Jane Hlatshwayo and Sgt Nomkhosi Silindokuhle Manyoni were presented with medals and civilian member, Heather Louise Jansen van Rensburg was given a certificate for 20 years’ good service.

“Fortune favours the brave,” said Maj Gen Nkabinde in closing as he saluted the deserving group.
