THE search is on for a man who may be able to assist the Brighton Beach family violence, child protection and sexual offences unit (FCS) in solving the rape of a 12-year-old girl in Mayville.
The young girl was allegedly raped by a man who broke into her house in Nubian Road, Insimbini on 11 January at about 12.30am where she was sleeping with her siblings. When she screamed for help, the man fled with some stolen household goods.
Police believe the man in the identikit may be able to assist them. He is described as very tall, with a slender build and is believed to be in his early 30s. He has a dark black complexion, with bloodshot eyes and speaks fluent Zulu. His head protrudes at the back and he has sunken cheeks with high cheekbones. He was last seen wearing a black and white striped T-shirt and cream trousers.
A case of rape was transferred to the FCS after it was opened at Cato Manor SAPS. Anyone with information on the man or the case should contact investigating officer, Constable Mlaba on 078-231-6543 or the anonymous Crime Stop hotline on 08600-10111.
