Woman murdered in Montclair

The 22-year-old has been charged with murder, theft of a firearm, pointing a firearm, being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

A 22-year-old man was arrested on Sunday, 19 April for allegedly shooting a woman in Ronald Road, Montclair.

At about 3am, he was drinking with a group of friends. He allegedly produced a firearm and pointed it at a man and then pointed the gun at a woman lying on a bed. He is believed to have shot the woman in the head and then fled the scene. The woman was rushed to King Edward VIII Hospital, but was declared dead on arrival. The man was arrested in Roland Chapman Drive, Montclair. Police recovered a 9mm round from the murder scene.

The 22-year-old has been charged with murder, theft of a firearm, pointing a firearm, being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. The man also allegedly stole his father’s cellphone. The case is being investigated by W/O Rico Naidoo.
