THURSDAY, 16 APRIL: Women’s Friendship Guild meets at 9.30am at the Assegai hall on the corner of Brighton and Assembly roads, Bluff. All are welcome to enjoy a friendly morning with a good cup of tea. Entrance for visitors is R5. For more information, call Margaret on 082-724-5741.

 

SATURDAY, 18 APRIL: Jehovah’s Witnesses will hold an assembly. About 700 people are expected to attend the event at the Amanzimtoti Civic Centre.

This is a semi-annual event attracting witnesses and non-witnesses from Scottburgh to the Bluff. The theme is ‘Keep Seeking Jehovah’s Righteousness,’ which is based on Matthew 6:33. Entry is free, and no collections will be taken.

SATURDAY, 18 April: South African Writers’ Circle monthly meeting in Westville library’s room G3 at 11am. Fred Felton will talk about social media, the title being ‘social media and the writer 2015”. Cristy Zinn will explain the role of social media within the SAWC. A workshop will follow. Members and and non-members (R20) are most welcome. MONDAY, 27 APRIL: On Freedom Day, support the youth fundraiser for St Barnabas Anglican Church as they play soccer against St Gabriels Anglican Church at Mission to Seafarers premises. Turn into Langeberg Road, first left into Seafarer Road, Bayhead.

It is the first building on the left. Admission for adults is R5 children free. Light food and drinks on sale. Gates opens at 9.30am and the game kicks off at 10.30am. For information and directions, call Adele on 031-466-3246.

 

THURSDAY, 30 APRIL: Grosvenor Girls High’s annual senior citizens tea party will be from 10am to noon. All senior citizens over the age of 60 are invited. Contact the school from Monday, 13 April to Monday, 20 April to book a place. Speak to Mrs Offer on 031-467-3614.

 

FRIDAY TO SUNDAY, 8 TO 10 MAY: South African Writers’ Circle holds a writing weekend away entitled ‘Heart of darkness: Exploring the depths of historical fiction’ at King’s Grant Country Retreat near Ixopo.

Charles van Onselen, author of The Fox and the Flies is the keynote speaker with well-known local historian, Robin Lamplough as one of the guest presenters.
