YWPWI gears up for AGM

Members are urged to enter the competitions.

YELLOWWOOD Park Women’s Institute president Vanessa Wilesmith opened the meeting with the Mary Stewart Collect and asked that thoughts be with Billie Prinsloo and family and also Norma Chaplin who has not been too well.

Apologies from Linda Hewer and Gerda Viljoen.

The secretary gave her report and received a thank you letter from Roz Botha for the WI’s financial donation.

Members were very sorry to receive a letter of resignation from Anne du Plessis, a long-time member who has relocated.

Subs are now due by members, but YWPWI is fortunate to be able to give a subsidy this year.

Tea duty for March will be Angela Peters, Wendy van Eyk and Norma Chaplin. Sales table duty will be for Wendy Henderson, Bev Holthausen and Caryl Howard. The sale table is always very successful. Celebrating her birthday in March was Linda Melson. There is a very special birthday coming up in April. Many thanks as always to the volunteers who do Meals on Wheels and Botanic Gardens duty.

Sharon Quail is still looking for goodies to sell at the Kombat Fair to be held on 8 March at Woodlands sports ground. This fair is always very successful and proceeds will go to Evelyn House so support.

The YWPWI AGM will be held in March and a representative from Crow will be at the meeting. If possible, take items on the wish list to assist them. Some of the items will cost nothing, like plastic containers, newspapers and cardboard.

If any members are transferring or resigning, advise the secretary now. YWPWI also needs some new committee members, so give it a thought.

Good news is that Federation has made fidget cushions their project for the year. The idea conceived by one of YWPWI’s members to assist the elderly. The group AGM will be held on 7 April and hosted by Stainbank.

Members are urged to enter the competitions. After the tea break, all members made beaded bracelets and necklaces for themselves, all of which were most attractive. The raffle was won by Wendy Henderson.
