ETHEKWINI Municipality advises customers with outstanding municipal accounts that a repayment plan is available to those who wish to settle their debt.
The municipality, has through its credit control and debt collection policy, introduced a credit arrangement facility for customers.
This facility allows a customer to enter into a payment agreement to settle their outstanding municipal debt, ensuring that essential services are not cut off.
To ensure the effectiveness of the credit control and debt collection policy, and to improve on its enforcement, customers should heed the following requirements for all credit arrangements:
- Credit agreement application form has to be submitted with supporting documents such as proof of income and business financial records.
- Credit agreement or acknowledgement of debts or consent to judgment to be signed.
- Deed of suretyship is required.
- Customers must sign a compulsory debit order with the municipality against the outstanding debt.
