Top honours for Montclair Post Office

The top three post offices in South Africa are in KwaZulu-Natal, with Wandsbeck second and Zimbali third.

MONTCLAIR Post Office was named the best post office in South Africa at an awards event at Sibaya Casino on Saturday, 22 February.

This is the second consecutive year the post office has won the South African Post Office CEO’s national award.
In addition to winning the best post office award, Montclair Post Office also won best branch in the Port Natal area and best regional branch for a consecutive year. Branch manager Premilla Pillay is excited at the win. “I can’t explain how it feels to win a second time around. I can’t compare the feeling to winning the award the first time around,” she said.

The SA Post Office conducts an annual service audit to evaluate post offices’ performance on service touch-points that affect the quality of customer service. These include cleanliness, mail delivery turn-around periods, queuing times, notifications to customers and financial management.

Customer service at post offices is assessed through customer feedback. Customers in KwaZulu-Natal submitted a total of 2,090 compliments for post offices in the province in writing and by e-mail. This comes to 55% of the compliments for Post Office service received during the year.
Acting group CEO of the SA Post Office, Mlu Mathonsi said service levels are vital to retain customers, especially during a time of rapid change in the postal industry and said he was extremely proud of the employees at Montclair Post Office.

Pillay says teamwork is the key to the post office’s success. “I have a fantastic team and thanks to the way we work, we have become friends with each other and our customers,” she said.
