Most wanted thief escapes from Montclair police cells [PHOTO]

Police believe the thief may be hiding in the Umlazi area.

A THIEF on Montclair SAPS’ top 10 wanted list who is wanted for several burglaries escaped from the holding cells at Montclair SAPS on Wednesday, 28 January.

Siyabonga Ntuli is wanted for theft in Montclair, Bellair, Mayville and Bayview.
Ntuli was arrested in Umlazi by Brighton Beach crime intelligence and Montclair detectives. Police linked him to seven housebreak-ins.
He attempted to committ suicide while in a holding cell on Tuesday, 27 January. On Wednesday at about 4.35am, Ntuli managed to squeeze himself through the burglar bars of the cell. A case of escaping from lawful custody was opened against Ntuli.

His whereabouts are unknown at this stage. Montclair detectives together with Brighton Beach crime intelligence are working together to trace and arrest him. Police believe the thief may be hiding in the Umlazi area.
