SDB helps women empower themselves

SDB ABM trains local women.

KZN Network and the South Durban Basin (SDB) Area Based Management (ABM) team helped 50 women empower themselves at the close of 2014, in honour of the 16 Days of Activism.

Earlier in the year, the 50 women were trained to be trainers themselves by KZN Network. They will help other women who have suffered from emotional and physical violence. As the 16 Days of Activism drew to a close, the South Durban ‘Zazi’ women stood up and committed themselves to standing up and being counted.

“The SDB ABM and the KZN Network have really helped us to empower each other and the women in our communities. We are so excited to go out there and do more,” said one of the 50, Phindi Khuzwayo.

SDB ABM manager, Eurakha Singh, thanked the women for their commitment and passion. “This work is not restricted to the 16 Days of Activism, but should happen 365 days of the year. Thank-you to the KZN Network for being a fantastic partner,” she said.
