Anti-drug ops net heroin, cocaine

Police find drugs in operations.

SPECIALISED anti-drug operations in Wentworth netted 105 heroin straws, 37 packets of rock cocaine and 14 mandrax tablets, along with cash and a box of live ammunition.

The special operation was aimed at flats in the area known to have drug dealings. Wentworth police and special unit officers patrolled the area, both outside and within the flats.

Outside a Wiest Road flat, one man was arrested for being in possession of 105 straws of a powder suspected to be heroin and about R157 in cash.

A box of live ammunition was found abandoned behind a power box of a Reiger Road flat. Police tracked down the suspected owner and he was arrested after being found with 37 packets of rock cocaine, 14 mandrax tablets and about R2,190 in cash.

According to Wentworth SAPS, these types of operations will continue at random times and in random areas to stop the proliferation of drugs in the area, especially in the flats.
