Mercedes found before owner knows it’s stolen

"I thought my car was in the garage. Police told me to go and check. That's when I saw my car was stolen."

A MAN was robbed of his Mercedes Benz and household goods in Streatham Crescent, Woodlands on Tuesday, 13 January.

The man, who did not wish to be named, received a call from his younger brother in Umlazi regarding the Mercedes. “I thought my car was in the garage. Police told me to go and check. That’s when I saw my car was stolen,” he said.
Police recovered the vehicle at about 4.20pm on Tuesday in C-section Umlazi. His home had also been also robbed of goods to the value of R25,000 which included a TV, radio, cellphone and documents. “We are used to break-ins in the area, as they occur often,” he said. In 2012, thieves tried to steal his one-day-old VW Golf. The man thanks Montclair SAP for their assistance in recovering his Mercedes. The household goods were not recovered.

In another incident, a woman was robbed of R2,000 cash in Anleno Road, Montclair.
Montclair resident Phumla Mlobeni said she received a call from her landlord to say her home had been robbed.
Burglars attempted to steal food and clothe items from the home, but the landlord chased the thieves away. “I’m thankful my landlord chased the men away and that they didn’t take my brother’s school clothes,” she said. The burglars fled with R2,000 cash.
