Festive outreach brings joy to settlement children

Police and Park Patrol give back to the community.

SOME festive cheer was brought to more than 200 underprivileged children in Clairwood on Wednesday, 3 December, thanks to Brighton Beach SAPS and a local security company.

Sweets provided by Park Patrol Security were handed out to the children in Clairwood’s informal settlements of Khayelitsha, Lalucia, New York and Small Village.

“Many of these children don’t even have beds to sleep on. A loose piece of carpet or even cardboard is a bed for some of them. For any child, a pack filled with sweet treats is a wonderful gift, and for a short while we brought some happiness into their lives,” said Brighton Beach SAPS communications officer, Captain Louise Le Roux.

Brighton Beach SAPS management thanks its own crime prevention unit, Captain Louise Le Roux and Park Patrol. Warrant Officer Nathi Ndlovu and Constable Xolani Mrawu are specially thanked for their interaction with the children.
