Car guards trained to aid police

Local car guards get trained by police.

THE second phase of Brighton Beach SAPS’ business against crime initiative kicked off at Hillside Mall on Tuesday, 2 December with skills training for car guards.

Brighton Beach communications officer, Captain Louise Le Roux, provided the guards with vigilance training, observation techniques, situational appropriateness during an armed robbery or carjacking and operational procedures with regards to suspicious objects.

“I believe our car guards have a positive role to play in assisting us. They have done so in the past by reporting suspicious individuals, vehicles and situations, for which we are thankful,” said Capt Le Roux.

The programme will be extended to Oxford, Bluff Towers and Bluff Water Tower Mall over the next few weeks. Brighton Beach SAPS management thanks Park Patrol and the management of Hillside Mall for their sponsorship and Capt Le Roux for conducting the training.
