Victim support centre takes stand against violence

The awareness campaign is part of the 16 days of activism against gender violence.

POLICE and Montclair victim support centre (VSC) handed out pamphlets to members of the public at Montclair Mall on Wednesday, 26 November.

The awareness campaign is part of the 16 days of activism against gender violence.
The VSC is managed by a team of voluntary care givers who provide support to victims in a time of crisis. Volunteers are on duty 24 hours a day.
Caregivers are trained to offer referrals to other organisations if a victim requires further help.
Services offered by the VSC include counselling for abused men and women, rape, counselling support, children’s issues, shelter, victim empowerment as well as support for family and friends of missing children.

The VSC will have a coffee stand at Montclair Mall on Thursday, 4 November from 10am to 11.30am where VSC co-ordinator Brenda Neal and volunteers will hand out pamphlets as part of the 16 days activism campaign.
The VSC is in need of local volunteers and funds. For more information and to donate to the VSC, contact Gavin Hegter on 072-821-1917 or Brenda Neal on 082-449-8172. Contact the Victim Support Centre on 031-469-8220.
