Sky is the limit for Bluff’s Masterchef finalist

Bluffite aims for glory on Masterchef.

ASPIRING chef, Roxi Wardman from the Bluff, believes the sky is the limit as she competes for top prize in the third season of South Africa’s Masterchef.

The 26-year-old, who has made it to the top five, has lived on the Bluff for about seven years and has been baking and cooking from a young age. “I always feel at my happiest when in the kitchen,” said Wardman, whose culinary heroes include Rachel Khoo, Jamie Oliver, Eric Lanard and Marco Pierre-White.

Wardman is accustomed to taking all opportunities that come her way, both on the Masterchef stage and off. “I was a waitress and I saw an opening at Transnet – I felt I needed to apply for the job, even though I was not sure what it was. I applied and did the tests and interviews and got the job. It was then I realised what it was and what I would be doing, and well, I went with it,” she said of her job as a train driver’s assistant.

Following her success on the show, Wardman, who calls herself “artsy and creative”, hopes to open up a cafe with a patisserie next year. And speaking of her success on the show, she believes it has changed her life. “The competition has been absolutely mind-blowing. I look at food on a completely different level now. I have learnt so much, have done the most amazing challenges and have been to spectacular places – I still feel it’s a dream.

I don’t think I could have made it without the pep talks and encouraging words from my parents and boyfriend. Thank-you all to my family, friends and ‘fans’ for all the overwhelming support during my Masterchef journey. You guys are amazingly awesome,” said Wardman.
