Police get tough on scrap metal dealers

Police will visit scrap metal dealers on a regular basis.

MONTCLAIR SAPS conducted visits to scrap metal dealers in their policing area on Thursday, 6 November.
This is part of an awareness campaign.

Seven scrap dealers were visited by police who handed out information pamphlets. Inspections were conducted in respect of illegal copper.
Police warn the public that it is illegal to buy scrap metal from Eskom, Transnet and eThekwini Electricity department.
Buyers of scrap metal must ensure that the scrap metal dealer seller has an identity document. Dealers who buy scrap metal will be charged if they don’t produce a copy of the identity document of the seller. Police will visit scrap metal dealers on a regular basis.
