Youth desk advises caution for matrics at post-exam parties

The CPF youth desk warns of fruit punch at parties and unattended drinks being laced with strong alcohol or numbing narcotics, leading to youngsters being raped or interfered with against their will and knowledge.

MONTCLAIR CPF Youth Desk chairman, Zanele Sibiya and her vice chairman, Sibiniso Mzimande, offers advice and warnings to the youth about matric exams and after parties taking place as we near the end of the school year draws to a close.

For most successful results, study in advance to avoid last-minute stress. Eat healthily and get enough sleep to be alert the next morning. Avoid any medication that will make you drowsy or keep you awake the night before. Ensure that all your stationery and other necessities are ready for the next day to avoid causing stress in the morning before writing exams. Good luck from all of us.

The CPF youth desk warns of fruit punch at parties and unattended drinks being laced with strong alcohol or numbing narcotics, leading to youngsters being raped or interfered with against their will and knowledge. This can happen with tobacco products as well.
Further warnings are being issued about date rape whereby confidence is built up during the date and then the person is forced into unwanted situations without consent. Be alert both out in public venues and private homes, as predators are always watching and the youth are vulnerable.

Youngsters should try to go about in groups where possible and avoid sitting in vehicles in isolated places, as hijackings are an ever-increasing danger. Make sure that an adult is always aware of where you are going and when you are expected back so that they can take the necessary action should you not return as arranged.
