Garden club learn new craft hobby

The next meeting is on 9 October at the Pigeon Club, Tara Road, at 9.30am.

NATALIA Garden Club’s president opened the September meeting with a prayer and welcomed all members present.

Unfortunately a lot of members have been ill recently and did not attend.

The club wishes them all a speedy recovery and looks forward to their return. Members contributed lots of plants, ensuring the plant sale was a big success.

Birthday wishes and gifts went to those with September birthdays. Door and raffle prizes were supplied by Kamy Moodley and won by Rita Ndlovu and Gwen Barnes. The R100 club was won by Kamy Moodley, who kindly donated her share to the Methodist Church sandwich fund.

Everyone enjoyed the mosaic demonstration by Helen and Tracey from Bluff Hardware and Hobbies. It is a fascinating hobby and there are so many beautiful things to make. A lot of members will surely try their hand at this craft.

The next meeting is on 9 October at the Pigeon Club, Tara Road, at 9.30am. Martin Clement of the Durban Botanical Gardens will host a talk on the rare and unusual trees in the gardens. Visitors welcome. There is a charge of R10 for refreshments.

The following members must take two plates of snack each, with each plate to contain at least 10 portions: P Freemantle, C Fuller, P Stewart, F Gracie, H Holzmann, J Huygens and C Kotze.
