Hime Street drug den patrol nets heroin straws

Wentworth SAP arrest another man in Jacobs for drug possession.

WENTWORTH SAP have turned a known drug den into their stomping grounds as yet another man was arrested in Jacobs.

While patrolling near the Hime Street flats – an area known for drug dealing – Constable N Mei and Warrant Officer Reddi saw a man trying to avoid their attention and moving quickly away from the area.

The officers stopped the man and found 32 green straws filled with heroin in his left hand. When questioned as to where he bought the drugs, he confirmed he had bought them at a cost of R14 each at the flats. The 23-year-old man from Lamontville was arrested for possession of drugs.

“We appeal to the flat residents to report any strange person or people who visit the flats to buy drugs to us. Wentworth SAP will continue to do stop and searches at the flats to eradicate drugs,” said communications officer, Lieutenant M Gumede.
